Our approach with all projects is to tailor designs to the people who will use them.
To do this we begin by closely listening and observing the people, the institution and the site. This gives us a base from which we synthesize the needs and goals of the institution with the local community requirements into a project with spatial and organizational clarity and architectural integrity.
What does that look like?
Aesthetically we look to achieve fresh, modern spaces that keep warmth and texture that underwrite the way we actually live and inhabit buildings. We honor all good architecture whether modern, historical or contemporary. Different projects mean different solutions. Sometimes the right solution is to edit and remove – particularly if renovating existing structures; at other times it is necessary to add – to give a sense of place and identity.
We work with all our clients closely to focus and clarify their function and ambitions. We enjoy working on institutional projects as they are places of strong identity and community significance. |
