This simple and elegant kitchen organizes warm, natural materials in a clean composition.
As in many older homes, the original kitchen was divided into three separate dark rooms – a small kitchen, a pantry and a laundry room. Our first design move was to remove the interior walls and push the rear wall out four feet in order to create one large, inviting space. We then opened up a bank of windows overlooking the back garden, and added smaller windows to the side walls to bring light in from all three sides.
The kitchen is efficiently planned, with a large pantry cabinet, a counter overhang to accommodate stool seating for three, and a stacked laundry in the adjacent closet.
The bamboo floors, stone countertop and glass front upper cabinets create a warm complement to garden view. The whole kitchen was transformed into a space as comfortable and welcoming as the rest of the house.
