Pool House

This pool house cabana and home offices for a winery in Glen Ellen were designed to provide for entertaining poolside and wine tastings. The structure is built into the side of slope allowing for a generous terrace and changing rooms at the level of the pool. Stairs lead down to the offices of the winery and tasting rooms. These spaces look out over a beautiful manzanita grove and are visually separate from the pool and residential areas.

The materials selected are earth-toned integrally-colored stucco; hand cast-stone pavers; heavy timber beams and steel casement windows for the warm and weighted feel of substantial construction. A long linear skylight washes the walls of the tasting room below with daylight and creates interesting shadow lines against the wall with the beams that extend through. A fire pit on the terrace level creates a gathering point on cool evenings.

This project was designed and rendered by Megan while she was with RDA.
