Situated on a lovely piece of property in Oakland, this project unfolded in two phases. The first phase was a simple dining room extension off the kitchen. A barrel vaulted ceiling, gently curving archways, a saltillo tile floor and rich colors created a warm addition to this Mediterranean style home. The second phase became a two story addition, with a music room on the first floor and a master bedroom suite on the second. A gently curved stair floats between the two levels. Each level orients itself to the garden with a bank of French doors connecting to a deck or balcony overlooking the pool below or the bay beyond.
